Comanche County Bans Sale and Use of Fireworks

comanche-4

Due to the continued extreme fire danger in the area, Comanche County Judge, Stephanie Davis, has adopted a Declaration of Disaster and Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning for Comanche County, Texas. The Declaration prohibits the Sale and Use of ALL fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Comanche County effective immediately.

Judge Davis wrote – “While this is an extraordinary remedy, I feel it is necessary. This decision was supported unanimously by the Comanche County Commissioners’ Court. The decision was made after much consideration and consultation with local elected and appointed officials, local volunteer firefighters, as well as listening to the concerns of the citizens of Comanche County. Comanche County has extremely dry drought conditions and there is an abundance of dry fuel that worsens the situation for wildland fires.

**This order does not ban commercial/professional firework displays. This Declaration and Order has been transmitted to the Office of the Governor with a request that this Disaster Declaration remain in full force and effect beyond 60 hours from the date of its issuance and that it be extended until such time as the Comanche County Burn Ban is lifted.”
