OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Post 36 Legion baseball team had no trouble putting away Lidgerwood-Hankinson on Monday afternoon as they racked up the runs in the middle innings and won by a final score of 21-2 by run-rule.

Oakes got the scoring started with back-to-back singles from Fletcher Willprecht and Conor Schall. They were able to load the bases with no outs, and get one run from a wild pitch, and back-to-back sac flies from Steele Hansen and Jaidy Gebhardt.  Post 36 was able to break the game open in the third inning as they put up nine runs despite the first two batters in the inning both being retired. Their runs came off RBI base hits from Gaven Christianson, Steele Hansen and Jaidy Gebhardt. They also get some runs on Lidgerwood-Hankinson fielding errors. Oakes was able to get more insurance runs scoring nine more runs in the bottom of the fourth to keep the game out of reach.

Christianson led the way for Oakes’ hitting going 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs. Gebhardt also had four RBI going just 1-for-1 with a sac-fly, a two-RBI single, and a walk with the bases loaded. Brogan Roney had a multi-hit day going 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Willprecht was 2-for-3 for his day with three runs and an RBI. Schall also had two hits in his three at-bats with Dylan Rodine scoring three runs while pinch-running for him. Schall went the distance on the rubber pitching for five innings and striking out five batters while allowing five hits, three walks, and two earned runs and picking up the win.

Oakes’ next game is on Thursday against Frederick. First pitch will be at 6:00 p.m. and it can be heard on 1220 AM/100.3 FM The Tornado, streamed online at newsdakota.com and on The Tornado app.
