The Nebraska Democratic Party made their way to Kearney to encourage people to vote and rally in response to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last week.
NTV News spoke to Randy Fair, the party's CD3 Chair, and asked what they'll do if a special session to ban abortion across the state goes through. He said they'll continue fighting for women and their rights and encourage Nebraskans to show up at the polls.
"When you talk about making those decisions that's not put to the voters necessarily, granted it's with our elected officials, part of what will happen is that we'll just keep working and obviously I have two daughters, I'm pro-choice, I don't think this kind of decision is just good for individual liberties, individual people and obviously, to a certain degree, it treats women like they're second class citizens which I'm completely against," said Fair.
The event is called Block the Ban at the Ballot Box. The group gave out information about voting by mail and collected feminine hygiene products and diapers that they will donate to those in need.
This event also happened in Omaha and in Lincoln on Friday when the Supreme Court made their decision.
