UPDATE:
DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — WDHN has received an update on the child that was burned by boiling water in Dale County on Monday.
Newton police now believe that the incident was accidental. It is believed that the child accidentally ran by the stove and knocked over a hot pot of water, Newton Police Chief Frankey Peterman.
After the boiling water fell onto the child, his father immediately took the child into a bath and tried to run cold water onto him, Chief Peterman said.
The child was then taken by helicopter to the University of South Alabama-Burn Center in Mobile. He sustained non-life-threatening burns to their face, chest, and especially his right arm.
Currently, no charges are expected in this case, pending an investigation by the Department of Human Resources.

DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A 5-year-old has been life-flighted with injuries after being burned by boiling water in Dale County.
The incident happened in the Whispering Lakes Trailer Park community in the Ozark-Newton area late Monday afternoon.
The severity of the child’s injuries as well as if there are any criminal charges pending is currently unknown.
