A record amount of money was raised for the Marshall County Exceptional Center on Saturday during the annual Mike Miller Memorial Golf Tournament.

Executive Director Lindsey Walker announced the event raised $36,000 for the organization, exceeding all previous years.

Walker thanked everyone that helped make the event a success, including Benton Mayor Rita Dotson and her husband Doug.

Walker said, "Their dedication to our clients and organization is truly appreciated and unsurpassed."

Over 75 percent of the organization's operational income comes from community support and fundraisers such as the golf tournament.

The Marshall County Exceptional Center is a non-profit that serves those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The exceptional center works with each client to forma  personalized plan, enabling them to maximize their independence while keeping their dreams, goals, desires, and abilities in mind.

According to Walker, the Marshall County Exceptional Center is the only agency of its kind in Kentucky that provides services without requiring private-pay or government waiver funding. All served can attend free of charge.
