YEAR OLD WAS SHOT AND INJURED BY A KENNER POLICE OFFICER LAST WEEK. HE REMAINS HOSPITALIZED AND HIS FAMILY SAYS THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE HIM. THE TEEN IS NOW THE TEEN IS NOT BEING IDENTIFIED. EXCUSE ME, BECAUSE HE’S A JUVENILE BUT HE WAS SHOT IN THE LEG LAST THURSDAY AFTER A POLICE CHASED THAT STARTED IN SAINT CHARLES PARISH. CHASE THEN WENT INTO KENNER COPS THERE STARTED FOLLOWING AND THE 15 YEAR OLD AS WELL AS ANOTHER PERSON WERE EVENTUALLY STOPPED IN RIVER RIDGE, WHICH IS IN JEFFERSON PARISH IN COPS. SAY THE TEEN THEN ALLEGEDLY PULLED A GUN ON A COUNTER POLICE OFFICER, SO THAT CAUGHT FIRE. A TEEN HAS BEEN HOSPITALIZED AND HIS FAMILY SAYS THEY JUST WANT TO SEE HIM. THIS IS A CHILD WHO HAS BEEN SHOT WHO IS IN THE HOSPITAL? THE PARENTS AND THE GUARDIANS DON’T KNOW HIS CONDITION. THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT SURGERIES HE’S UNDERGOING. WE DON’T EVEN KNOW FOR SURE IF HE’S CONSCIOUS IF HE IS HE’S WAKING UP IN A ROOM FULL OF STRANGERS WITHOUT HIS FAMILY THERE AS A VEHICLE. A JPSO OFFICIAL SAYS IF THE STATE NEEDS TO MAKE OR AT THE HOSPITAL NEEDS TO MAKE ANY MEDICAL DECISIONS PARENTS AND GUARDIANS ARE CONTACTED BY PHONE, BUT NO ONE IS ALLOWED INSIDE THE HOSPITAL ROOM AS THE 15 YEAR OLD IS IN CUSTODY AND JPSO SAY

A 15-year-old who was shot and injured by a Kenner police officer during a police chase is being denied to see his family. The incident started around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday when authorities tried to stop a car in the Susan Park area. However, investigators state that the car refused to stop and a passenger got out of the vehicle on South Cumberland in Metairie and ran away. During the foot chase, authorities say an officer opened fire at the 15-year-old suspect after he reportedly pulled out a handgun. The 15-year-old suspect was taken into custody and was taken to a local hospital. However, his family has been denied seeing him despite the fact he is a juvenile. A Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office official says if the hospital needs to make any medical decisions, parents and guardians are contacted by phone. However, no one is allowed inside the hospital room as the 15-year-old is in custody and will be charged with numerous crimes.
