Haywood County will soon be opening its first splash pad!
It's located in Sorrells Street Park near the end of downtown Canton.
The project was funded by grants for a cost of $125,000.
The temperature of the water will be hovering around 75 degrees. That's much cooler than the last couple of weeks here in the mountains.
The director of Canton's Parks and Recreation department says it's a game changer for the town.
"We're excited for the community to start using this," Ben Williams said. "It's gonna be a great thing for people to come and use. It's a great way for people to beat the heat. So we're really excited to see what this will bring to the town."
The splash pad opens this weekend, July 2.
The summer hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through September.
