Three men face charges on Monday after they allegedly beat another man severely over the weekend in the Cascade County Detention Center (CCDC).

Jesse James Daniels, 21, Hunter Dylan Colt Bell, 28, and Jacoby Alexander Daychild, 19, are all accused of accountability for aggravated assault. Daniels and Daychild are also accused of accountability to evidence tampering, and Bell is accused of evidence tampering.

The following information comes directly from charging documents. The defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.

A Cascade County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded Sunday afternoon to CCDC for a report of an assault. The alleged victim was being treated in medical, and he told the deputy that he had been beaten four or five times since breakfast.

The man was transported to the hospital after stating that he couldn’t breathe, and he was later found to have two collapsed lungs and several brain bleeds.

Upon searching the cell where the man had been assaulted, the deputy found blood on the floor and the wall as well as some blood under a mattress that appeared to have been partially wiped away.

The deputy reviewed security footage from CCDC and reportedly observed Bell, Daniels and Daychild entering the cell where the man was assaulted. He said he observed movement through the cell window consistent with punches being thrown.

Bell was transferred Monday to the Montana State Prison, where he is serving time for criminal endangerment, obstruction, evidence tampering and drug charges.

Daychild is being screened for placement in the Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility for drug charges. He also faces charges in Cascade County for theft of a motor vehicle.

Daniels is incarcerated for allegations in multiple cases. One is for the alleged kidnapping and torture of a juvenile male. The other is for an alleged kidnapping and home invasion. The Great Falls Police Department's High-Risk Unit arrested Daniels after he allegedly fled the state and then returned to Great Falls.
