Police: 52 loaded firearms discovered at home of man accused of killing brother in Deer Park
A man accused of killing his brother in Deer Park was found dead over the weekend after a SWAT standoff in Lexington, police said.
According to court documents, around 8:42 a.m. 70-year-old Michael Mueller was visiting the victim at his home in the 7000-block of Monterey Avenue.
During the visit, police said Michael became upset, grabbed a gun and shot the victim nine times while he was lying in bed.
The victim has been identified as Michael's brother, 66-year-old Mark Mueller, court documents said. Mark was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Michael fled the scene shortly after the shooting.
He was found at a hotel in Lexington, Kentucky over the weekend and after a SWAT standoff, he was found dead inside the hotel from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police said after the shooting, they received information Michael had a "small arsenal of weapons" at his home in Madisonville.
After searching Michael's home with the consent of his father, they discovered 52 loaded firearms.
