Another top pitching prospect has joined the WooSox’s talented starting rotation.
The Red Sox promoted left-hander Chris Murphy to Triple-A Worcester. He dominated at Double-A Portland, posting a 2.58 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and .170 batting average against in 15 outings (13 starts) this season.
He had 91 strikeouts and 31 walks in 76 ⅔ innings for Portland. He allowed only 5.4 hits per nine innings.
Murphy has a fastball with carry he throws up in the zone. He also has a changeup, curveball and slider.

Murphy was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week earlier today. He threw 6 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit and three walks while striking out eight against Richmond on Saturday.
Worcester also granted Thomas Pannone, a lefty fro Cranston, R.I., his released so he can pitch in Korea. He posted a 4.57 ERA in 14 outings (12 starts) for the WooSox.
First baseman Roberto Ramos also was granted his release. He batted just .158 with five homers and seven doubles in 39 games for Worcester.
