Yellowhammer Rock Band will add to July 4th festivities

Adding to the Fourth of July excitement in Demopolis, the Two Rivers Arts Council will host a free concert by the 151st Army National Guard Yellowhammer Rock Band before the fireworks begin.

The seven-member band, a smaller group of the 151st Alabama Army National Guard Band, will play in the front of the Demopolis Civic Center beginning at 5 p.m. Monday. Music lovers are invited to bring their chairs and sit within earshot to enjoy the music.

Since this is the National Guard, all the musicians have other vocations, said Lydia Randall, Two Rivers president. Sgt. Thomas Furlough, band director, grew up in Thomasville, played in the high school band and is now a music/band teacher in Tuscaloosa.
