Ka Lo, then a Marathon County Board member and candidate for Wausau School Board, addresses the media in February 2020 to oppose a reported Trump administration plan to deport non-U.S. citizens to Laos. Lo later won election to the school board, but resigned Monday, June 27, 2022.

Wausau School Board member Ka Lo resigned from her elected position Monday, effective immediately.

Lo said she is stepping down to pursue "an opportunity" outside the Wausau area.

She wrote in her resignation letter she thought about resigning before because of "the toxicity, disrespect and indifference of school board members and their friends and supporters directed towards myself."

Lo was elected in 2020 and said she found the work to be challenging and satisfying.

"I believe I did my best to make the safest decisions for our district," Lo wrote.
