Syracuse police investigate shooting on Butternut Street

Update: Syracuse man taken to hospital after he’s shot on Butternut Street

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse police confirmed someone was shot Monday afternoon on Butternut Street.

Someone called 911 at 2:58 p.m. to report a shooting with injuries at Family Food Markets, at 814 Butternut St., according to the Onondaga County 911 Center.

Syracuse Fire Department and American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance also responded to the scene.

Syracuse police remain at the scene. It is not clear yet exactly where the shooting happened or how badly the person was injured.

“We are investigating a shooting,” Syracuse police spokesman Lt. Matthew Malinowski said.

Police said they will release more details later.
