A Gassville couple was able to escape injury after their neighbor woke them up and advised them their residence was on fire. The residence at 344 Bayless Court is estimated to be about a 50% loss.

According to an incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy met with the owners of the residence early Friday morning. Roy and Brenda Madley stated the neighbor woke them from their sleep at around 1 and informed them their roof was ablaze. The back of the residence was also reportedly on fire.

The Gassville Fire Department was called to the scene to put out the fire. Gassville Fire Chief Michael Glotzl says personnel had to pull down the ceiling to be able to extinguish the fire.

Chief Glotzl says Gassville was assisted by the Cotter, Flippin, Mountain Home and Midway fire departments and the Cotter-Gassville Rural Fire Protection District. Personnel were on the scene for nearly 3 1/2 hours.

No injuries were reported to the residents or any emergency personnel.
