Sangre de Cristo Community Care’s Music Therapy Program has received funding from NextFifty Initiative, a Colorado-based foundation that supports efforts to improve the lives of older adults and their caregivers. This funding will allow Sangre de Cristo Community Care to grow its effort to support those 50 and older in southern Colorado.

“We’re committed to meeting the unique and varied needs of older adults in our area, so we are excited to expand our music therapy program which addresses a variety of healthcare and educational goals for older adults, including promoting wellness, managing stress, alleviating pain, expressing emotions, enhancing memory, improving communication, and promoting physical rehabilitation and maintenance,” said Taylor Voss, Director of Strategic Relationships for Sangre de Cristo Community Care. “This investment from NextFifty Initiative will enable us to reach the lives of more older adults in Southern Colorado’s Rural and Frontier communities, enhancing the
lives of our patients and caregivers and providing otherwise unavailable physical and mental support.”

Music therapy in hospice and palliative care can prove to be exceptionally beneficial while a person is experiencing great life changes.

“We’re grateful for the work that Sangre de Cristo Community Care is doing to improve quality of life for people aged 50 and older,” said Diana McFail, president and CEO of NextFifty Initiative. “Older adults are vital to building and maintaining strong and healthy communities. We’re proud to support this and other efforts to help people age with dignity and purpose.”
