CINCINNATI — Kroger is joining the list of companies in the United States offering assistance for travel to get an abortion following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Supreme Court justices issued their decision in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, overturning Roe v. Wade, Friday.

The company announced late last week that it will help employees pay up to $4,000 for out-of-state travel if they need an abortion, according to our news partners at WCPO.
Kroger, who’s headquarters are in Cincinnati, operates more than 2,700 retail stores in 35 different states. 211 of those stores are in Ohio.
In a statement to WCPO, a Kroger spokesperson said the company strives to ensure their “associates have access to a wide variety of benefits that provide value in their lives today and in the future.”
“We invest in the whole person with a comprehensive benefits package that includes quality, affordable health care and travel benefits up to $4,000 to facilitate access to quality care for several categories of medical treatments and a full range of reproductive health care services, including abortion and fertility treatments, for company-plan participants,” the statement read.

Kroger is now one of nearly two-dozen companies offering such assistance. Other companies offering the out-of-state abortion assistance include:
