2 people helped off balconies during fire at Flint Township apartments

FLINT TWP., MI -- There were no injuries after a fire early Monday morning at an apartment complex on River Valley Drive in Flint Township, officials said.

The Flint Township Fire Department helped two people off of balconies using ladders before extinguishing the fire, which was reported shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, June 27, in the 1100 block of River Valley Drive.

Other residents were instructed to shelter in place while smoke was cleared from hallways in the building, according to a release from the department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Flint Township police and fire.

Flint Township Fire was assisted by Flint Township Police, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and several EMS agencies.
