Columbia Police investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a car at intersection of Devine and Heidt

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Columbia Police Department says officers are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car at the intersection of Devine Street and Heidt Street last night.

Officers say they were dispatched to the scene just before 9 p.m. Sunday. According to investigators, a car was traveling eastbound on Devine Street and the driver says they did not see the pedestrian who was trying to cross the northbound side of the road.

Police say the driver stopped after the collision and called 911.

According to authorities, the pedestrian was taken to the hospital where they are listed in critical condition.
