Four Los Alamos High School students, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Los Alamos, are preparing for their youth exchange year abroad.

Through the Rotary Youth Exchange program, students become global citizens, building peace one young person at a time. Students develop lifelong leadership skills, learn a new language, discover a different culture, and build lasting friendships. The Rotary Youth Exchange is a catalyst for humanitarian service and cultural understanding.

Candidates are ages 15-18½ and are leaders in their schools and communities. Students attend schools abroad for a full academic year and live with multiple host families. Room and board are provided, as well as school fees. Students pay for their airfare, travel insurance, and travel documents; they are also responsible for their own spending money.

The Los Alamos Club, through District 5520, can host exchanges with Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and sometimes with Australia and Peru.

For more information, contact Linda Hull, 505.662.7950, who will provide Club contacts for the Rotary Youth Exchange program.
