Men’s Hockey Reveals Highly Anticipated 2022-23 Season Schedule

FULL SCHEDULE

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.
– The Merrimack College men's hockey team and head coach Scott Borek announced their 2022-23 season schedule Tuesday on the heels of one of the most successful campaigns in the Division I era for the Warriors this past winter.

Merrimack enjoyed a historic 2021-22 campaign that saw it win 19 games, which is the second-most in program history since it moved to Hockey East. That win total includes seven over ranked opponents and a Hockey East Tournament opening round win Mar. 9 over Maine at a sold-out Lawler Rink.

Matchups against a trio of 2022 NCAA tournament participants and 10 non-conference games highlight the upcoming slate, which is set to begin Oct. 7-8 when the Warriors trek to New York's North Country for weekend games against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The home schedule commences Oct. 18 when Hockey East rival, New Hampshire, visits North Andover for a 7:00 pm puck drop.

After the Warriors battled Colgate in the Empire State last fall, the Raiders return the favor and head to Lawler Rink Oct. 21-22 for a two-game non-conference set. Conference play continues the weekend after with a home-and-home series against Massachusetts Oct. 28-29 with the first game set to be played in Amherst at Mullins Center before a Saturday evening tilt in North Andover.

The Warriors stay home Nov. 4 when they welcome in Boston College, before the teams meet Nov. 5 at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill to close the weekend. Maine visits Merrimack for a two-game series at Lawler Rink Nov. 11-12, which includes a special 4:00 pm puck drop on Veterans Day that Friday afternoon.

A pair of non-conference games follow, as Merrimack visits Sacred Heart (Nov. 17), then hosts Holy Cross (Nov. 22) to lead into the Thanksgiving break. Four straight Hockey East matchups conclude the fall semester with a home game Nov. 29 against Connecticut, followed by road contests against Connecticut (Dec. 3), Massachusetts (Dec. 8) and Providence (Dec. 10).

Merrimack begins the second half of the season at the Ledyard Bank Classic Dec. 30-31, hosted by Dartmouth at Thompson Arena. The Warriors open the weekend against the host Big Green, then play on New Year's Eve against either Yale or Providence.

A five-game home stand rings in the new year for the Warriors with a two-game set against Yale (Jan. 6) and Brown (Jan. 7), followed by a pair of games against Providence Jan. 13-14 inside Lawler Rink. Northeastern comes to North Andover Jan. 20 before a rematch the following day down in Boston.

The second game against the Huskies marks the start of five straight games away from home, as the Warriors head to Burlington, Vt. for two straight against the Catamounts Jan. 27-28, then visit New Hampshire (Feb. 3) before they end the weekend Feb. 5 at Maine.

A final sprint towards the end of the regular season starts Feb. 17 when Merrimack hosts Boston University, then both sides play a rematch the following day in Beantown. The Merrimack Valley rivalry is set to be rekindled Feb. 24-25 when the Warriors visit UMass Lowell, then the teams reconvene the next day in North Andover.

One final home game closes the regular season for Merrimack, as Vermont heads to Lawler Rink Mar. 4.

New Renovations to Lawler Rink
Ahead of the 2022-23, the Merrimack Athletics team has been striving to enhance the game-day experience for our fans. The following projects symbolize our commitment to improving upon the already incredible atmosphere at Lawler:
  • In April, a brand-new video board was installed, spanning nearly double the length of the board previously in its place. This state-of-the art board will provide increased clarity and new in game engagement opportunities
  • Over the summer, we will be enhancing the sound and light systems, increasing the visibility and in-game audio significantly
