(Alpha Media- Brooke Bickford) Loads of smaller towns like Otho and Gowrie will be celebrating the 4th of July on Monday.

For the city of Fort Dodge, the Independence Day celebration will be held on Friday night at Sports Park Raceway.

As has been the case for the last several years, the city of Fort Dodge does not host the annual fireworks display.

It has fallen into the hands of independent business owners with a passion like Little Joe’s Computers, Fort Frenzy and now the Sports Park Raceway.

Every business owner who has undertaken the commitment to provide the fireworks show has done it because they don’t want to see the annual event disappear from the Fort Dodge landscape.

Jeff Frevert the owner of Sports Park Raceway says the city contributes an amount to the fireworks, but it is not near enough to cover costs.

He says that the undertaking of the show is huge and is hard to maintain alone and this may be the last year they provide them.

To help make hosting the annual celebration a little easier you can drop a donation off to AutoDrive or mail it to Sports Park Raceway.

Frevert says they are excited to welcome people on Friday night. Stop in to watch the races and he says the doors will open for free at 8:30 pm during the tail end and everyone is invited to attend.
