BUD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County man was arrested on Thursday on a number of charges stemming from a domestic incident.
According to reports from Sgt. Matthew Lane of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, authorities were dispatched to Bud Mountain on a domestic violence call on the afternoon of April 14, 2022.
Having arranged to meet with the victim, Lane was informed that the victim had been in a relationship with Jonathon Hearn for two years and was in the process of ending said relationship.
Upon returning to Hearn’s residence to collect belongings, the victim claims Hearn began accusing her of stealing money from him before grabbing and beginning to choke her.
Hearn is then said to have brandished a pistol, which he placed between the victim’s eyes before threatening to “cut her from ear to ear if she called the police.” The victim was eventually able to escape after both parties fell to the floor.
Red bodily marks and tears to the victim’s clothing appeared to corroborate this depiction of events, and the injuries were photographs. Lane was unsuccessful in subsequent attempts to make contact with Hearn.
On Thursday, June, 23, 2022, according to reports from Corporal Logan Cook of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, Cook and Corporal Christian Hedinger attempted to locate Hearn to serve warrants for charges related to the aforementioned incident.
Hearn is believed to have fled the area, as this was reportedly at least the third time attempts were made to contact Mr. Hearn.
The officer made entry to Hearn’s Bud Mountain Road camper, where Hearn could be observed attempting to conceal himself in a bathtub covered with hanging clothing items.
Upon noticing Hearn’s feet protruding from the hiding place, officers directed Hearn to reveal himself.
Hearn was finally retrieved but was noncompliant, resisting arrest and striking Cpl. Cook on the wrist and accruing additional charges of Obstruction and Battery on a Police Officer.
Hearn was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department for further processing, during which he is reported to have been cooperative.
Jonathan Hearn faces charges of Domestic Battery, Strangulation, Brandishing, Obstruction, and Battery on an Officer.Â
