SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) — The Scottsboro Police Department (SPD) is asking for the community’s help in finding out who is responsible for two public bathrooms being destroyed.

Both of the bathrooms at the Jackson County Park playground received extensive damage, with cabinets kicked in, sinks lying on the ground and toilet paper dispensers ripped off the wall, it won’t be a quick fix.

Police are asking for the public to come forward with any information that might lead them to the culprits. Lieutenant Scott Hamilton with SPD says they don’t have any suspects just yet.

“We are saddened and frustrated by the damage to a place where our children go to play and have fun,” said Hamilton. “Hopefully, someone knows something and will report it, so the person(s) can be held accountable.”

Authorities say the damage happened sometime between Saturday night and early Sunday morning this past weekend.

Hamilton says the cost to fix the damage won’t be known until park management completes repairs, in the event any suspect or suspects are charged restitution.
