July 4 fireworks: Here's where to find celebrations in Volusia and Flagler counties

Although there are plenty of issues that divide us, Independence Day remains a holiday that unites all Americans in a salute to freedom, an occasion that is traditionally punctuated with the rockets’ red glare of glorious fireworks displays.

Here’s a look at where you can find July 4th events, celebrations and, yes, fireworks in Volusia and Flagler counties:

Daytona Beach

Fourth of July Veterans Parade: Presented by the Marine Corps League Daytona, the parade will step off at 10 a.m. Monday along Main Street west from Atlantic Avenue to the base of the Main Street Bridge in Daytona Beach. It will feature units representing nearly 30 local military organizations, as well as combat veterans and the city’s police and fire departments. Prior to the parade, there will be a July 4th Veterans Ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Clock Tower on the Daytona Beach Boardwalk.

Star-Spangled Summer Concert Series: The ongoing performance series at the Daytona Bandshell offers a particularly American offering for Independence Day: The Alter Eagles will present a tribute performance of hits by the Eagles, arguably one of the most popular American bands of all time.

A fireworks display lights up the skies over Port Orange. That city is among many others in Volusia and Flagler counties that will be offering fireworks displays this coming weekend to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.

The show starts at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Bandshell, on the north end of the Daytona Beach Boardwalk behind the Ocean Walk Shoppes. There will be fireworks over the beach after the show, at approximately 9:45 p.m.

DeBary

DeBary Freedom Fest: The Independence Day celebration will unfold from 4-11 p.m. Monday at Gemini Springs Park, 37 Dirksen Drive in DeBary. It will feature family-friendly activities, a kids’ zone, and a state-of-the-art fireworks and laser show set to music at 9:15 p.m. Free admission. For details, visit debary.org.

DeLand

Firecracker Festival: The City of DeLand will get an early jump on Independence Day this year with its annual Firecracker Festival at 6 p.m. Friday, July 1, at Earl Brown Park, 750 S. Alabama Ave. in DeLand. Activities include games, live music, food trucks, vendors and a kids zone, all capped with a fireworks display at dusk. Guests are invited to bring lawn seating. There will be plenty of opportunities to watch fireworks over the Independence Day weekend in Volusia and Flagler counties.

Deltona

Deltona’s All-American Blast: This family-friendly celebration features fun, games and other activities starting at 5 p.m. Monday at Dewey O. Boster Park, 1200 Saxon Blvd., Deltona. The event will culminate with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Free admission. For details, visit deltonafl.gov.

Lake Helen

Lake Helen July 4th Celebration: This all-day event starts with a parade at 10 a.m. Monday followed by festivities, music and other activities at 11 a.m. at Blake Park, 493 S. Lakeview Drive, Lake Helen. The event will be capped by fireworks at 9 p.m. For details, visit lakehelen.org.

New Smyrna Beach

4th of July Celebration: Presented by the City of New Smyrna Beach, the event will run from 4-9 p.m. Monday at the Brannon Center, 105 Riverside Drive in New Smyrna Beach. Activities will include food trucks, live entertainment and a fireworks display. For details, visit cityofnsb.com.

Orange City

Fireworks & Fun: This Independence Day celebration will run from 5-9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at Valentine Park, 1595 W. French Ave. Orange City. It will feature live music, food, vendors, a kids’ zone, and a 9:15 p.m. fireworks display. Free admission. For details, visit orangecityfl.gov.

Ormond Beach 

Independence Day Celebration: Presented by the City of Ormond Beach, this celebration will feature music, food trucks and fireworks starting at 8 p.m. Monday at Rockefeller Gardens, 25 Riverside Drive in Ormond Beach. The fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. For details, visit ormondbeach.org.

Port Orange

4th of July Spectacular!: The event features live music, food trucks, a corn hole tournament, classic car show and animals from Noah’s Landing Petting Zoo from 5:30-9 p.m. Monday at City Center Park, 1000 City Center Circle, Port Orange. Flagler County

Fireworks Over the Runways: The City of Palm Coast will be hosting an Independence Day event starting at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 3, at the Flagler County Executive Airport, 201 Airport Road, Palm Coast. It will include live music and an Independence Day ceremony featuring the Palm Coast Fire Department Honor Guard and a reading of the Declaration of Independence by elected officials.
