Search continues for missing swimmer at Candlewood Lake

All searches have been inconclusive so far. The Candlewood Lake Marine Patrol maintained a search perimeter for the duration of the weekend and will continue to monitor the area.

A 20-year-old male went missing while swimming in Candlewood Lake Friday, officials say.
Officials say the disappearance occurred near Chicken Rock. 
Throughout the weekend, dive teams from the CT State Police, New Milford Police Department, and Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue have been searching the area where the swimmer was reported to have gone missing.  
All searches have been inconclusive so far.   The Candlewood Lake Marine Patrol maintained a search perimeter for the duration of the weekend and will continue to monitor the area. 
Searches will continue this week as weather permits.  Boaters are asked to stay clear of the area around Chicken Rock until further notice. 
DEEP says the public is being asked to stay away from Green Island and Chicken Rock while the search is ongoing.
