A woman was pronounced dead after an exchange of gunfire with police in Guernsey County on Friday night.
Police say the woman had an active arrest warrant and did not stop for police in Barnesville. A pursuit ensued and went into Guernsey County.
The statement from the Guernsey County Sheriff's Department says the woman pointed a gun at an officer when the pursuit ended near Lake Ridge Road. Sheriff Jeffrey Paden attempted to talk to the woman, but he said she was not cooperative.
The Guernsey County Special Response Team was called, and the woman was not disarmed when hit with a stun weapon.
Reports say the woman was shot in an exchange of gunfire and was pronounced dead after being taken to Southeastern Ohio Medical Center.
The State Bureau of Criminal Investigation is currently leading the investigation on the situation.
