This is not a criminal investigation, the Hadley Police Department wants everyone to know. But the owner of a child’s playhouse mistakenly taken from a driveway would very much like it back.

Hadley police said Sunday that the pricey cedar playhouse — the type a small child may be able to enter and fully stand up in — was taken from a driveway on Crystal Lane.

Unlike the sagging couches and tattered armchairs that show up in local driveways around the end of the University of Massachusetts school year, this playhouse was not placed in front of the home to be taken for free.

Police believe the driver of a white pickup truck mistakenly believed otherwise and drove off with the house on Saturday.

Anyone who recognizes the truck was asked to contact the Hadley Police Department.
