EUGENE, Oregon | The 2022 USA Track & Field U-20 Outdoor Championships were held this past weekend, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Michael Gizzi who competed in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints.
 
Gizzi had an outstanding performance in the 100-meter dash with a second-place time of 10.28 in the final round, which garners him a berth to the 2022 World Athletics U-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia, from August 1-6.
 
He will additionally compete in the 4x100 meter relay at the 2022 World Athletics U-20 Championships, as one of the top sprinters from the United States.
 
The Covington, Georgia, native also qualified for the 200-meter dash finals where he placed sixth overall with a time of 20.84.
 
The 2022 USA Track & Field U-20 Championships were held in Eugene, Oregon, at Hayward Field from June 23-25.
