Arkansas baseball transfer tracker: Who is leaving, joining the Razorbacks via portal?

Arkansas baseball is no stranger to the NCAA transfer portal. Two of its most impactful players in the 2022 season, catcher Michael Turner and right fielder Chris Lanzilli, came to the Razorbacks via the portal. 

With Arkansas' College World Series run and season at an end after a loss to Ole Miss in Omaha, players are making moves in and out of the program. The Razorbacks will look to continue their portal success with key additions and add players from the junior college ranks while other players leave the program in pursuit of other opportunities.

Here's who's coming and going from Arkansas baseball this offseason.

Who is transferring out from Arkansas baseball?

Mark Adamiak, P — Adamiak started three midweek games for Arkansas as a redshirt sophomore, making nine appearances for 13⅔ innings with a 3.95 ERA. 

Where he landed: Missouri. Adamiak was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 15th round of the 2022 MLB Draft and could turn pro instead of fulfilling his commitment to the Tigers.

Evan Gray, P — Gray made three relief appearances as a redshirt sophomore in 2022 after pitching in six games a year prior. His three outings this season totaled just 1⅔ innings.

Where he landed: St. Louis

Zack Gregory, OF — Arkansas' starting left fielder in 50 of its games in 2022 announced he would transfer on June 29. Gregory had the team's  third-best on-base percentage (.414) and fourth-most walks (35). He finished the season with a .212 batting average and the fewest hits of Arkansas' regular starter (31).

Dylan Leach, C — Leach entered the transfer portal on June 25 after finishing his sophomore season with the Razorbacks. He appeared in 24 games for Arkansas behind starting catcher Michael Turner, including a start against Central Arkansas in which Leach hit for the cycle with two home runs.

Where he landed: Missouri

Max Soliz Jr., C — Soliz Jr. appeared on D1Baseball's transfer tracker on June 28 after a freshman season in which he played in four games as a pinch-hitter and started once against UIC. He was the No. 3 player in Alabama out of high school and the No. 1 catcher in the state per Perfect Game. With the departures of Soliz Jr. and Leach, Arkansas is in need of a new catcher for 2023.

Gabriel Starks, P — Starks pitched in 12 games as a sophomore in 2022, including a College World Series relief appearance in Arkansas' first loss to Ole Miss. He finished the season with a 4.63 ERA in 11⅔ innings. He appeared on D1Baseball's transfer tracker on June 28.

Heston Tole, P — Tole appeared in 10 games for a total of 14⅓ innings out of the bullpen in his sophomore season at Arkansas. He didn't see the mound after May 3 against Missouri State, however, and he transferred soon after the conclusion of the season.

Where he landed: Texas

Vincent Trapani, P — Trapani did not appear for Arkansas in his freshman season. The Wisconsin native was ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 2 player in the state and the top righthander.

Where he landed: Illinois-Chicago

Elijah Trest, P — Trest has one year of eligibility remaining and appeared on D1Baseball’s transfer tracker on June 29. He appeared in 13 games for Arkansas this season, including two College World Series relief appearances. He finished with a 3.77 ERA in 14⅓ innings.

Drake Varnado, INF — Varnado announced his transfer while Arkansas was playing in the NCAA Tournament. He appeared in 15 games as a freshman for the Razorbacks, mostly during midweek games.

Who is transferring to Arkansas?

The following players have committed to Arkansas either from junior college or through the NCAA transfer portal.

Cody Adcock, P — Adcock spent one season at Ole Miss in 2021 before transferring to Crowder College. He posted a 6.58 ERA in 14 starts with a 4-2 record in 2022.

Julian Bosnic, P — The South Carolina lefty was expected to be one of the Gamecocks’ weekend starters in 2022 before an elbow injury sidelined him. In his redshirt sophomore year in 2021, he posted a 2.84 ERA in 22 appearances primarily out of the bullpen. Bosnic was selected in the 14th round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and has not announced whether he will sign.

John Bolton, INF — A former Austin Peay shortstop, Bolton committed to the Razorbacks on July 21. As a senior with the Governors in 2021, Bolton hit .287 with 22 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 56 starts.

Caleb Cali, INF — Cali has been a journeyman in college baseball after redshirting as a freshman at Florida State, transferring Hillsborough State for one season and then College of Central Florida. At his third school, Cali hit .438 with 17 home runs and 22 doubles.

Harold Coll, INF — Coll comes to Arkansas after his second season at San Jacinto (Texas) junior college. Coll was the No. 1 shortstop in Georgia out of high school in the class of 2020 and played short and second base at San Jacinto. He slashed .357/.433/.604 in 2022.

Tyson Fourkiller, INF/OF — The Connors State (Okla.) College transfer committed to Arkansas on June 9. In his sophomore season in junior college, Fourkiller slashed .448/.551/.686 and struck out just seven times in more than 170 at-bats.

Koty Frank, P — The Nebraska righthander started seven games in 2022 with a 5-0 record and 3.81 ERA. In 2021, he pitched 1⅓ innings against Arkansas in the Fayetteville regional, a matchup the Razorbacks won. Frank will have one year of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer.

Hunter Grimes, INF — Grimes was impressive as McLennan College's designated hitter for much of the 2022 season, slashing .366/.427/.749 with 17 home runs as a sophomore. Arkansas has a history with McLennan players, including shortstop Jalen Battles and head coach Dave Van Horn.

Hunter Hollan, P — Hollan, a lefty from San Jacinto junior college, committed to Arkansas June 7. He posted a 3.06 ERA in 16 starts as a freshman with a 10-3 record and an average of more than six strikeouts per game.

Peyton Holt, INF — A Greenwood native and Crowder College (Mo.) transfer, Holt committed to the Razorbacks in May. He slashed .425/.500/.668 with 22 stolen bases in his third season of junior college ball.

Tavian Josenberger, INF — Josenberger announced his transfer from Kansas to Arkansas on July 2. Through his sophomore season, he owns a career .296 batting average with three home runs and 54 RBIs.

Cal Kilgore, C — A former New Mexico State player, Kilgore announced his decision to transfer in July. As a freshman last season, Kilgore hit .250 in 33 starts. He was ranked the No. 3 catcher out of Kansas in the class of 2021 by Perfect Game.

Ben McLaughlin, INF — With the likely departure of Cayden Wallace for the professional ranks, Arkansas will be in need of a third baseman next season. McLaughlin might be able to help with that. The Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College transfer was the junior college Gold Glove winner at third base this season. He hit .411 with 19 home runs and a .465 on-base percentage. 

Hudson Polk, C — Polk started six games for Oklahoma as a sophomore this season and joins Jace Bohrofen as the second Sooner transfer on Arkansas' roster. He hit .313 in 16 at-bats. He was the No. 31 player in Texas out of Coppell High School. 

Parker Rowland, C — Rowland committed to Arkansas on June 29. The Eastern Oklahoma State transfer spent two seasons at Arkansas State before entering the junior college ranks. Rowland is a switch-hitter and hit .408 with 12 home runs and a .509 on-base percentage this season. He was the first catcher to commit to Arkansas, which lost its starter and reserves from the 2022 season.

Jordan Sprinkle, INF — The UC Santa Barbara shortstop comes to Arkansas after his redshirt sophomore season. He hit .285/.381/.416 in 2022 and is the No. 140 prospect in this year’s MLB draft per MLB pipeline. Sprinkle was selected in the fourth round of the 2022 MLB Draft and will likely sign with the Chicago White Sox.

Isaac Webb, INF — One of two players from Eastern Oklahoma State College committed to Arkansas, Webb could play in the outfield or aid in the effort to replace star shortstop Jalen Battles. He committed to the Razorbacks in March and had 33 stolen bases as a sophomore at EOSC.

Jared Wegner, OF — Wegner announced he would transfer from Creighton to Arkansas on June 7. The Nebraska native was an All-Big East selection in his junior season with the Blue Jays this year. He led the team with 11 home runs, 53 RBIs and a .635 slugging percentage.
