Plenty of 4th of July festivities happening in the area

The firework show on Sunday capped Stars and Stripes on the River

ZANESVILLE — As the 4th of July approaches, here is a highlight of activities happening throughout the area.

The annual Jaycees Stars & Stripes on the River will be held July 3 and 4 at Zane's Landing with fireworks happening on at dusk on July 4 in Zanesville.

There will also be some musical acts each days with Ol' Dirty Strangers performing from 7:30 until 9 p.m. July 3, while Ethan Timm and Scott Fish go on at 2, Sharwahl at 4, The River Rats at 5:30 and Zack Attack! at 7:30 p.m. on July 4.

Duncan Falls will host its Star Spangled celebration with food trucks, beer garden and DJ Kurtus from 5 to 9 p.m. with fireworks at dark on July 1, Frazeysburg has a fireworks display on July 1, and New Concord has fireworks to conclude the Fireman's Festival on July 9.

Gratiot will also hold a 4th of July celebration with a parade at 6:30 p.m. July 4.

Fireworks displays in Perry County are Buckeye Lake on July 1, New Straitsville and Somerset on July 2, Junction City on July 3, New Lexington on July 4 and Corning on July 9.

Somerset will also have a parade at 11 a.m. July 2 followed by a variety of activities at Somerset Memorial Park, Junction City will have a parade at noon July 3 with activities at the city park, and New Lex will start its parade at 1 p.m. July 4 with activities at Arethusa Springs Park.

Thornville will also have a parade at 11 a.m. July 4 with activities at Jake Shaner Park, but there will not be fireworks.
