Perryville’s Kyla Schnurbusch Named To Girls’ Soccer Dream Team

(Perryville) The Perryville Pirates girls’ soccer team had their best season in program history and were recognized on the Spring Dream Team in the form of Kyla Schnurbusch. The upcoming senior scored 23 goals and recorded 14 assists for the Pirates.

Perryville finished 4th in Class 2 last season in their first ever appearance in the state semifinals.

One of the highlights of the year was a four-game stretch when Perryville won all four games by outscoring their opponents 32-0. Schnurbusch scored 10 goals over that period.

Perryville was 12-0-1 after that and ranked 1st in the state in Class 2. But they suffered their first losses of the season in the following two games. Schnurbusch says the team used those games as a learning experience.

Perrvyille will graduate just one player from last season’s team, Ana Gremaud, the Class 2 Defensive Player of the Year. Though that’s not a player any team wants to lose, Schnurbusch says they have some new talent coming in that could help them get back to the state semifinals.

Schnurbusch was also named 2nd Team All-State. Perrvyille finished 19-4-1.
