RCSD: Deputies arrest man accused of deadly shooting on Sea Gull Lane

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says one person is dead and another is behind bars after a shooting that took place in the 2400 block of Sea Gull Lane.

Deputies say they were called to the scene around 9 p.m. Sunday, for a report of a person who was shot. Once on the scene, deputies say they found one man with a gunshot wound in his lower body and another man that was rendering aid to him. Authorities say the victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the victim as 54-year-old Evans Wood, of Columbia.

Deputies say they arrested 27-year-old Tyler Marshall and took him to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center for booking. According to officials, he is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to investigators, the shooting occurred after an argument between the two men.
