Coroner identifies man shot to death in St. Claude neighborhood on Sunday

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — On Tuesday morning, the New Orleans Coroner identified the victim in this incident as 39-year-old Gregory Johnson. The preliminary cause of death is gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, June 26, the New Orleans Police Department began investigating this incident as a homicide in St. Claude.

According to NOPD, Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2000 block of Louisa Street around 11:30 p.m.

Reports show that when officers arrived, they located a 39-year-old man inside of his vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene.

Detectives continue to gather information to identify those responsible for the death and a motive.
