UPDATE:
This afternoon the City of Blakely and the Blakely Police Department held a joint news conference in regards to the deadly Church Street shooting that left one dead and six injured.
Blakely Police Chief Will Caudill says that two suspects have been arrested. Authorities arrested 19-year-old Jatavious "Josh" James and 24-year-old Javen Ransom.
BPD says on Sunday afternoon, an arrest warrant was obtained for James for aggravated assault. He was taken into custody Monday afternoon in Blakely and is currently in custody at the Early County Jail.
On Monday morning, arrest warrants were obtained for Ransom for aggravated assault. He surrendered to BPD and is at the Early County Jail.
An arrest warrant was also issued for another suspect, Joshuah "Josh" Burden, for aggravated assault.
Burden surrendered himself to the Early County Jail Monday evening.
The deceased victim was identified as Eric Eafford. The other victims were not identified. In total there are seven known gunshot victims as a result of the incident. Some victims were treated and released and some suffered more serious injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting. Chief Caudill is asking that anyone present at the time of the shooting or anyone with information contact BPD at (229)723-3414, or the GBI at (229)777-2080.
This investigation is ongoing and BPD anticipates additional arrests and additional charges to be filed including charges specifically about the death of Eric Eafford.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A person was killed and six other were injured after a shooting in Blakely Sunday morning.
Blakely police arrived at North Church Street and Washington Avenue around 12:45 a.m. and heard numerous gunshots further south on North Church Street.
Officers immediately responded, located several gunshot victims and began administering first aid.
Lifebrite EMS transported one victim to Lifebrite ER; this victim did not survive their injuries.
Officers say that the six other victims either self-reported or were taken to area hospitals by other individuals. Some victims were treated and released, while others remain in serious condition.
Police say that the shooting occurred in the densely crowded area of the nightclubs and food establishments on North Church Street.
BPD and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continue to process the crime scene and interview individuals who were present. Officers say that there were dozens of individuals who witnessed the incident and left the area.
Blakely police encourage and ask for witnesses to come forward and provide crucial information about this senseless crime.
