A 44-year-old man was jailed on suspicion of murder after two people were shot to death in a Valley Center home, a sheriff’s official said Monday.

A woman called authorities just before 10 p.m. Sunday and said her brother-in-law, Christian Bobila, had just shot her husband. It happened in a home on Interlachen Terrace near Inverness Avenue, east of the Native Oaks Golf Club, homicide Lt. Chris Steffen said.

Deputies soon found Bobila few blocks from the home, driving off in a black minivan. They pulled him over and arrested him, Steffen said.

At the home, deputies and paramedics found the bodies of two men, ages 45 and 79, who had been fatally shot. Both had been shot in their upper torsos, Steffen said.

“The circumstances and motivations are still under investigation,” Steffen said in a news release.

Steffen said the incident happened at the home of Bobila’s in-laws, and that Bobila did not live there.

Jail records indicate Bobila is being held without bail on suspicion of two counts of murder, and he is slated to be arraigned in Vista Superior Court on Wednesday.
