The pressure is on Daniel Jones.
The New York Giants could be in a position to acquire a new franchise quarterback in 2023 if No. 6 pick Jones does not step it up this season.
Pro Football Network put out its latest 2023 first-round mock draft, and it projects that the Giants will secure the No. 7 pick overall and bring in Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson:
“If you watched Florida football last season, you likely witnessed the video game-esque abilities of Anthony Richardson. Even if you didn’t tune in to the Gators, there is a chance you caught a glimpse of Richardson’s athletic gifts in the form of his pregame backflips. Well, the 6′4″ and 237-pound QB isn’t just a pregame hype machine. On the field, he tormented defenses with his legs and right arm. He can dart past defenders if given a hole or leave defenders grasping at his shadow as he breaks them down in the open field. But it’s not all fun and games. Richardson has only thrown 66 passes in his career for 556 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions. He simply hasn’t played enough to truly earn top-10 consideration. Yet, if he puts it all together in 2022, the sky is the limit.”

Richardson was the third quarterback selected in this mock, with the Houston Texans picking Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud at No. 1 and the Detroit Lions taking Alabama’s Bryce Young at No. 3.
Richardson is ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.’s No. 13 prospect for the 2023 NFL Draft and the fourth out of quarterbacks.
1. Bryce Young, Alabama
2. C.J. Stroud, Ohio State
3. Tyler Van Dyke, Miami (Fla.)
4. Anthony Richardson, Florida
5. Will Levis, Kentucky
