2 dead in Valley Center shooting; 1 detained

VALLEY CENTER, Calif. – Two men were shot and killed late Sunday in a North County neighborhood, local authorities said.

Just before 10 p.m., deputies were called to the 14700 block of Interlachen Terrace, which sits to the east of Valley Center Road, for a report of assault with a deadly weapon, Lt. Chris Steffen of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department stated in a press release Monday. The person who called in the report said her brother-in-law, 44-year-old Christian Bobila, shot her husband.

When authorities arrived to the scene, they found Bobila driving a black minivan a few blocks away and pulled him over, Steffen said. Bobila was detained without incident.

A 45-year-old and 79-year-old man were found dead by first responders with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, the sheriff’s official confirmed. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.

Bobila was charged on suspicion for two counts of murder and has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
