The Riverfront construction team is adding a key feature to Omaha's Heartland of America Park. On Monday, a crane began moving the Farnam Pier into place. The pier is about 204 feet and weighs 250,000 pounds. It will add connectivity to the Missouri River. Three oversized truckloads were escorted from Houston, Texas, to Omaha to help deliver the pier. According to MECA, once the pier is firmly in place, it will get electrical and lighting components, stairs, ramps, and seating. Much like the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, the Farnam Pier will change lights.MECA hopes it will become a landmark within Heartland of America Park.
