GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Three people have been charged in connection with an April 30 murder on the city’s west side -- apparently drug-related -- and only one of the three suspects are in custody.
One man was shot and killed during an incident near Western and Perkins avenues. Police identified him as Randall Denny.
The three charged are Gustavo Cantu, Alejandro Cantu, and Jacob Ventura. Only Ventura is in custody. He is also charged in Shawano County with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court records indicate warrants were issued for the Cantus. Police on Monday asked the public for help finding them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Green Bay police at (920) 448-3208 and refer to report 22-221174. Anonymous tips may also be left with Crime Stoppers by phone at (920) 432-7867, online or through the P3 smartphone app.
According to the complaint, police were called to the scene for reports of multiple gun shots. One witness told police Gustavo Cantu was the shooter.
A witness told police the victim may have stolen a pound of meth from the Cantus.
The victim was shot in the head, according to the autopsy report.
Ventura made an initial court appearance Monday, where a $1 million cash bond was set. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 7.
Denny’s brother, daughter, and aunt commented in court, supporting the $1 million cash bond.
“We just want justice. My family just wants justice. And he (Ventura) don’t deserve to be out here. He took someone from our family who was a big part of us, a big, big, part of us, part of our lives. And I hope he thinks about everyday what he did – and I hope he remembers my face,” said Diamond Denny, one of the victim’s daughters.
