Mr. Richard Glenn Hiott, affectionaly known to everyone as “Ricky”, 70, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Tuesday evening, June 21, 2022 at his residence.
Born June 25, 1951 in Walterboro, he was a son of the late Richard Ransom Hiott and Frances Brownlee Hiott Bailey. He served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Ricky retired from Dayco in Walterboro as head maintenance technician. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. He was a spiritual man who always talked to God. He loved to make people happy and always listened to anyone who needed to talk. Ricky was always willing to help anyone, whether they needed physical or emotional support, and to his family he was a full time “Superman”.
Surviving are: his wife of 48 years, Mary Simmons Hiott of Walterboro; sons, Richard Glenn Hiott, Jr. of Walterboro and Earl Daniel Hiott and his fiancé, Elizabeth Schneider of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Orion Alexander Hiott, Logan Gabriel Hiott, Ronan Asher Hiott, Brooke Lynn Hiott, Jade Cassandra Markussen, and Hudson Peter Hiott; the mother of his grandchild, Logan, Erica Hiott of Round O; sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Roessler and her husband Dane of Hilton Head and Vicki Gale Hiott Syfrett and her husband Billy of Walterboro; brothers-in-law, Riddick Murdaugh Simmons (Debbie) of Round O and Dalton McCarthy Simmons of Walterboro; uncle, Allen Brownlee (Ella Mae) of St. George; special family friends, Allen King and Ravenel Page; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, “Itty Bitty” Hiott. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Rita Hiott Shaw and Cathy Hiott Elkins.
Funeral services were held 2 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2022 at The Brice Herndon Fuenral Chapel, Walterboro. Entombment followed at Glendale Memorial Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, Walterboro.
