One dead, one injured in Fletcher car crash

A car struck a motorcycle, ejecting both passengers off the bike and setting it on fire, on Sunday morning at the intersection of Hendersonville and Fanning Bridge Roads, according to a press release from the Fletcher Police Department.

Forty-one-year-old Brian Pinheiro and 45-year-old Kelly Pinheiro were transported to Mission Hospital where Brian Pinheiro died from his injuries. Kelly Pinheiro remains in critical condition.

According to the press release, at about 11:45 a.m., Fletcher Police and Fire responded to the scene of the crash. The initial investigation determined a Ford Fusion, intending to travel west on Fanning Bridge from northbound Hendersonville Road, turned left in front of the motorcycle driven and occupied by the Pinheiros traveling south on Hendersonville Road.

The occupants of the Ford Fusion reported no injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fletcher Police Department.
