Angels pitcher Raisel Iglesias launches sunflower seeds to end insane Mariners brawl

Things got all kinds of weird during Sunday’s game between the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels.

After Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker was plunked on the rear end by Angels pitcher Andrew Wantz, the benches cleared in Anaheim, resulting in a wild brawl that saw several punches thrown. The Angels didn’t appear to be thrilled that Mariners pitcher Erik Swanson threw at Mike Trout the night before, and the apparent retaliation set both benches off.

After the fight ended and both sides had retreated to their dugouts, Angels reliever Raisel Iglesias was not ready to let sleeping dogs lie. He grabbed an entire box of sunflower seeds, ran out of the dugout and attempted to launch the entire pack towards the Mariners. It was an apparent response to him being one of six players ejected for the brawl.

Iglesias can flirt with 100 MPH with his fastball, but the box barely made it to the infield.

After the field was cleaned up, the two sides did get back to the game, which the Angels won, 2-1. Winker did not leave quietly, however, flipping the fans in Anaheim the double bird as he walked off the field.

In other food-related news from the incident, perhaps the perfect culmination of the day’s events occurred after the game was over. Sofie Dill, a Mariners content creator, decided to order Winker a pizza to Angel Stadium after the game was over.

According to documentation on Twitter, Winker received the pizza – and was very grateful. Mariners fans also flooded the delivery driver, Simranjeet Singh, with additional tips.
