Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: June 27, 2022

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, June 27:

On 06/22/2022 deputies were alerted to a possible drunk driver in the area of USH 51 and CTH Q in the Town of Pine River. The first deputy in the area located the suspect vehicle and stopped it for the reported violation. Upon making contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 39, he was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. The driver was put through a series of SFSTs, and as a result of those tests was placed under arrest for first offense OWI and operating without a license.

On 06/23/2022 deputies were called to an address on Sunset Dr. in the Town of Merrill for a reported domestic disturbance. It was reported that a Merrill male, 17, was assaulting his sister, 18, and his mother, 41, both of Merrill. Investigating deputies learned that the offender was experiencing anger issues and lashed out at his family. As a result of this incident, he was arrested and booked into the Lincoln County Jail for a count of disorderly conduct.

06/24/2022 a deputy on routine patrol and stopped a vehicle for speeding violation in the City of Merrill. When stopped the driver, a Merrill woman, 41, was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. The woman was placed through a series of SFSTs, and as a result of those tests was arrested for first offense OWI.

On 06/24/2022 a deputy on routine patrol sopped a vehicle for speeding 94 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The violation took place on STH 17 near Prairie Dr. in the Town of Schley. When stopped the driver, a Merrill man, 19, was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. As a result, the driver was placed through a series of SFSTs, and as a result of those tests was arrested for a first offense OWI and underage drinking.

On 06/25/2022 a deputy on routine patrol observed a vehicle that was weaving on the road, appearing to be a possible impaired driver. The deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, a Wild Rose man, 29, was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. The driver was placed through a series of SFSTs, and as a result of those tests he was arrested for second offense drunk driving and transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

On 06/26/2022 a deputy on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver a Merrill woman, 19, was found to have been consuming an intoxicating beverage. The driver was placed through a series of SFSTs, and as a result of those tests was arrested for a violation of absolute sobriety. The woman was later released to a responsible party.

On 06/26/2022 a deputy on routine patrol observed a vehicle that was being operated in a suspicious manner on Cattail Ln. near CTH S in Town of Bradley. While following the vehicle, the driver twice pulled into a private driveway to try and throw the deputy off. After the second driveway, the deputy and a backup deputy made contact with the vehicle and found that the driver, a Tomahawk man, 19, had fled on foot into the woods. After a short time, the driver returned and was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. The driver was placed through a series of SFSTs, and as a result of those tests was arrested for OWI. The driver was later brought to the Lincoln County Jail.

On 06/26/2022 deputies assisted the Merrill Police Department with a vehicle pursuit. A Merrill Police Officer attempted to make contact with a vehicle for a registration violation. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled first on foot then in his vehicle. The pursuit continued to a point where it left the City of Merrill and entered into the Town of Pine River. At this point, deputies took over the pursuit as it continued E/B on STH 64. Speeds approached 105 to 110 MPH. The driver a Merrill man, 32, traveled N/B on CTH X until his vehicle left the road and crashed in the area of CTH X and CTH C. After another brief foot chase, the driver was taken into custody. The reason for the suspect’s fleeing was because there was a warrant for his arrest through Marathon County. He was also booked for a charge of 1st degree recklessly endangering safety, two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, and resisting an officer.

During this week period, there were eight reported car-deer crashes.
