Local EMS provide Narcan training in Scottsville

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local EMS volunteer provided Narcan training in Allen County this past weekend.

Victory Hill Dream Center and the Allen County Scottsville Faith Coalition partnered to make the event possible. The event’s main goal was to help others recognize overdoses and learn to administer nasal Narcan, a lifesaving drug that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.

The event followed a week of training and supplying people who are in recovery with Narcan. Every participant received a free box with two doses of Narcan.

“We’re just grateful for the opportunity to partner with our community, to not only meet the physical needs, but the spiritual needs of our community as well. And we’re super excited about the involvement and participation of everyone in our community to try to make this a better place,” said Amy Payne of Victory Hill Dream Center.

The two main things to do for an opioid overdose include administering Narcan and calling 911. However, Narcan should not be a substitute for 911.
