CLEVELAND, Ohio -- This week on the “Rocking the RV Life” podcast, hosts Jeff and Patti Kinzbach share their experiences traveling up Michigan’s west coast. The trip included stops in Traverse City and Mackinac City. Along the way, they drove across the Mackinac Bridge, which connects the upper and lower peninsulas of the state.

The longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere was called “the 8th Wonder of the World” when it opened in 1957. Mackinac Bridge Director Kim Nowack joins Jeff and Patti to talk about the nearly 5-mile span and the interesting things that happen on it every day. The hosts also share the story of Muriel and Dick, a Florida couple they encountered who found a unique way to support their RV lifestyle.

Tip of the Week: Always remember to inspect your camping site before you set up or pull into it. The Kinzbachs learned that lesson the hard way arriving at their spot in Traverse City.

The couple has been living out of their RV and traveling North America since Jeff retired from the radio business in September 2020. Here in Northeast Ohio, he is known for his 50-year on-air run as a host of the Buzzard Morning Zoo on WMMS-FM/100.7 in Cleveland and later at WONE-FM/97.5 in Akron.

The “Rocking the RV Life” podcast was launched in 2021 and is now presented in partnership with cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer.

Listeners can access the podcast via Spotify and Apple Podcasts and cleveland.com’s podcasting page.

You can meet the Kinzbachs at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at a special storytellers event at the Music Box Supper Club, 1148 Main Ave., Cleveland. They’ll share stories about their unique traveling lifestyle and RV plans for the rest of the year with host Susan Glaser, travel editor at cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer.

Attendees will also be able to tour a brand-new RV parked in front of the venue courtesy of the event’s presenting sponsor General RV.

The forum, co-sponsored by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, is free and open to the public and will be taped and presented as a future podcast episode of “Rocking the RV Life.” Table reservations are required and can be made at the Music Box’s website.
