Gas prices drop for the second straight week ahead of 4th of July holiday

Average gasoline prices in Asheville have fallen 2.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.63 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy's survey of 259 stations in Asheville. Prices in Asheville are 24.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $1.68 per gallon higher than a year ago. The price of diesel has risen 2.6 cents nationally in the past week and stands at $5.80 per gallon.
