BAY CITY, Mich. (WNEM) - A man who went missing in the Saginaw Bay on Sunday has been found dead.

A 56-year-old man was out on a vessel when he went into the water and did not resurface, the Coast Guard said.

The victim, identified as Tim Wallschleger from Saginaw County, began to struggle in the water before his friends lost sight of him, according to Bay County Sheriff Troy Cunningham.

On Wednesday, a fisherman alerted officials with the Department of Natural Resources that he saw some suspicious near Channel Island.

The DNR then found the Wallschleger’s body about 300 to 500 yards west from Channel Island in the Saginaw Bay just outside of the Saginaw River, Cunningham said.

The body was taken back to the mainland, then to a local hospital. The cause of death is unknown while the autopsy is pending. No foul play is suspected at this time.
