The 25-year-old Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Deputy killed in the line of duty last week was laid to rest on Sunday. Hundreds packed the Church at the Mill to bid farewell to Dep. Austin Derek Aldridge. Aldridge was killed on June 21 after being “ambushed” in the line of duty.

A 12-year-old boy in Macon County is in hospital after sustaining burns to 50 percent of his body. Kyle McKim tells us a science experiment his son Barrett was working on exploded, catching his t-shirt on fire. Barrett’s mother attempted to get the shirt off her son, severely burning her hands in the process.

An out-of-state firefighter tragically passed away in the mountains this weekend. Officials say 41-year-old Alicia Monahan suffered a "catastrophic accident" while instructing students during a swift water rescue course in Macon County. Monahan leaves behind a fiancé and two children. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
