SEC party at the Bear's Club: Auburn's Alex Vogelsong nips former Kentucky golfer Reid Bedell to win 104th Florida Amateur

University of Noth Florida player Cody Carroll led First Coast participants in the 104th Florida Amateur with a tie for sixth.

The 104th Florida Amateur turned into a mini-SEC tournament on Sunday at the Bear's Club in Jupiter.

Alex Vogelsong, a rising Auburn senior, birdied the par-5 18th hole twice from a greenside bunker, once in regulation to tie former Kentucky player Reid Bedell in regulation at 8-under 280, then on the first hole of sudden death to win his first FSGA title.

Vogelsong had a 70 in the final round and was the only player in the field to break par in all four rounds. Bedell shot 73.

John Daly Jr., who plays at Arkansas, shot 72 to finish third at 4-under.

Vogelsong made 6-foot birdie putts in each trip to No. 18.

Cody Carroll, a University of North Florida senior and Middleburg High graduate, shot 72 to finish in a tie for sixth at 1-over 289. Andrew Riley, a Creekside graduate who plays at Palm Beach Atlantic (71) tied for 18th at 5-over.

Two former Ponte Vedra High players, Davis Lee (70) and Scotty Kennon (77) tied for 21st at 6-over. Lee plays with Carroll at UNF and Kennon is at Wake Forest.
