The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield is expanding into an area school district — for the first time.

This fall, club services will be available to students in Marshfield.

The club will provide programming from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays during the 2022-23 year.

The one-day expansion coincides with the Marshfield district's move to a four-day week. The district will have classes Tuesday through Friday most weeks, and was looking to give families an option on Mondays.

Marshfield Superintendent Mike Henry said the district is excited about the partnership, noting the programs and services available through the club.

"This will be a great opportunity for our students on those Mondays when school is not in session," Henry said, in a news release.

"Students will be able to continue learning from what is taking place in the classroom and further learning in other specific areas of interest for them.”

The club hopes to have enough staffing to serve up to 200 Marshfield K-8 students. The program includes breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack and will be free for members of the Marshfield Club, as it will be called.

The program starts Aug. 29, and registration will be available on July 25. Membership is based on first-come, first-serve basis.
